A Program Manager is responsible for leading and guiding multiple projects within a product and project management organization. They ensure successful delivery while overseeing resources, timelines, and communication between cross-functional teams.

Program Manager Interview Plan

Round 1: Behavioral and Situational Round (30 minutes)

  • Ask situational and behavioral questions, such as handling difficult stakeholders or team members

  • Discuss project risk management and mitigation techniques
  • Expectations: In-depth understanding of project management principles, familiarity with relevant tools, and ability to apply concepts to real-world scenarios

Round 3: Scenario-Based Round (50 minutes)

Objective: Analyze candidate’s problem-solving skills and evaluate their ability to manage multiple projects, resources, and stakeholders.
  • Present a realistic case study involving multiple projects, constraints, and challenges
  • Ask the candidate to plan, prioritize, and allocate resources to the projects
  • Discuss potential challenges and how the candidate plans to address them
  • Expectations: A well-structured plan, logical prioritization of tasks, and understanding of resource allocation and stakeholder management

  • Be familiar with various project management methodologies and their real-world implications
  • Understand specific industry challenges and how a Program Manager might be faced with them
